Secondary Athletics Day

26 June, 2026

By Year 7 student Nanthana Subaharan

Secondary students prepared themselves for the biggest competition of the year – Athletics Day.

Who would take the trophy home – Cowan, Patterson, Hollows or Freeman?

1196 students attended our first whole-school event in 2026.

Now, get ready, get set, GO!

Students participated in 100 metres, 400 metres and 1500 metres on the track, along with field events like shot put, javelin, discus, high jump, long jump and triple jump.

And for those who didn’t like athletics, teachers set some fun socialising events: 5v5 World Cup soccer, egg-and-spoon race, three-legged race and Giant Jenga.

There was also great school spirit. Students sang amazing house chants, which lifted the atmosphere of the whole event.

But now let’s talk about the winners.

Drum roll, please …

Our overall athletics champion is FREEMAN HOUSE!

Final Results

1st Freeman (yellow) 1213 pts

2nd Hollows (green) 1146

3rd Paterson (blue) 1090

4th Cowan (red) 1028

Congratulations to all students who gave it their all, but most congratulations to Freeman House.
