Dear families,

Earlier this week, the Premier and Minister for Education announced that we will be returning to Remote and Flexible Learning from Monday 20th July until at least Wednesday 19th August.
I am still waiting for a DET Bulletin with further details and will communicate any further information with you as soon as I have received it.
I imagine that you will have many questions in regards to school operations and the delivery of this learning program, and I will endeavour to respond to these soon.
We will be working on our Learning From Home Program over this week and will apply the learning we took from the previous period of on line learning. We will be using the data and feedback that came from parents. We will communicate this approach and the changes made with you as soon as practicable.

There are some changes to the previous Remote and Flexible Learning regarding attendance at the school, these are:

  • Year 11 and 12 students, and year 10 students doing a VCE subject attend school for their VCE and VCAL lessons.
  • Students with disabilities may attend school to be supervised by school staff in their on line learning
  • Students, whose parents are unable to work from home and can make no alternative arrangements for the care of their children, may also attend school to be supervised by school staff in their on line learning

To enable us to plan staffing levels for supervision, parents will need to email their child’s sector principals with details about their child, prior to attending. There will be no ‘casual’ attendance allowed. All students who attend on any day will have been pre-approved by a sector principal.

Primary
Students whose parents are unable to work from home and no other care arrangements are available, please email natalie.vulic@education.vic.gov.au with the following information:

  1. Student Name and year level
  2. Circumstances that require student to be supervised at school, eg both parents work and no older sibling or relation at home or nearby to supervise. (If this is the case; job title, work hours, start and finish times and a contact number to confirm details at the work place will be required).

Students with a disability. If a parent wishes their child with a disability to attend school for supervision while doing their on line learning please email natalie.vulic@education.vic.gov.au with the following information:

  1. Student Name and Year level
  2. Disability type
  3. Requested days and times for the week

If parents do not have access to a device their child can use during online learning, please email tsering.sherpa@education.vic.gov.au with the following information:

  1. Student name and Year Level
  2. If access to a device, (tablet with internet), or dongle (internet only) is required.

Secondary
All VCE and VCAL students are expected to attend. The usual timetable continues and teachers will work with these students face to face at school. If a student or parent needs advice about VCE or VCAL, please contact: tara.hyatt@education.vic.gov.au
Students whose parents are unable to work from home and no other care arrangements are available, (please note it is expected most secondary students are able to work on line from home and do not require supervision at school). If your child is unable to remain safe at home please email renee.liprino@education.vic.gov.au with the following information:

  1. Student Name and year level
  2. Circumstances that require student to be supervised at school, eg both parents work and no older sibling or relation at home or nearby to supervise. (If this is the case; job title, work hours, start and finish times and a contact number to confirm details at the work place will be required).
  3. Why the secondary student cannot manage themselves safely at home

Students with a disability. If a parent wishes their child with a disability to attend school for supervision while doing their on line learning please email renee.liprino@education.vic.gov.au with the following information:

  1. Student Name and Year level
  2. Disability type
  3. Requested days and times for the week

Supported:
Parents have already been contacted by the Supported principal, Francesca Ahearn and arrangements made. If you need to update Francesca or seek further advice: francesca.ahearn@education.vic.gov.au

When teachers are allocated supervision at school, they will be unable to be contacted for assistance with on-line learning. Teachers allocated supervision, will usually have on line tasks set for students but cannot assist on a face to face supervision day. Teacher supervision rosters will be posted when they are developed so students and parents will know when teachers are unavailable

If a student is approved to attend school during the period of on line learning, they will need to bring:

  • Their food to be eaten, (no food is to be shared)
  • Filled water bottle/s
  • Learning supplies – device, pens/pencils, workbook, book to read etc.

The school will supply soap, sanitiser, etc, but I recommend parents supply their child with a personal supply of sanitised wipes, a bar of soap in a plastic container or zip lock bag, and a small bottle of sanitising lotion.

Parents may not enter the school grounds. Contact with staff should be via email or phone call to the office

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has confirmed that the use of face masks or coverings by adults or children is not recommended in schools at this time. However, students who wish to wear face masks in school and in going to and from school may do so.

If you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of a fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell or taste, you should get tested at a coronavirus (COVID-19) testing facility and stay home.

If you would like health information from the Department of Health and Human Services, you can visit dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

These continue to be challenging times and I will keep you updated on further information as soon as it is available.

Stay well and keep safe.
